  • Daioni - Step by Step video

One of my favourite and most successful flies; the Daioni. Thought I'd make a video on how to dress one. Hope it's of interest.

Great video TT - many thanks for making it.The Daioni is a top fly, and my go-to dropper pattern after I caught my largest sea trout (7lb) on one last year. I lost a reasonable sewin on the Teifi last week fishing a Daioni and needle fly combo. I suspect it took the Daioni on dropper. I experimented with tying an all-black variant (with silver holo tinsel) for use on the Teifi, although it hasn't caught anything yet.

Just a quickie, does anyone dress it using jungle cock and a bit of flash or is it not needed ? I have seen a few variations and none of them have jungle cock or Krystal hair/flash, cheers

                      Thanks guys

SS; tried very much the same, replacing the wing with peacock instead of squirrel and black hackle instead of white. Looks awesome, but has yet to produce a fish :>

Cullster; post a pic of your variant if you can mate, really like the sound of it. |\

I have to add my own endorsement to this pattern. I think it looks excellent and tied up 6 last night. They will go on trial either tomorrow or Sunday night or maybe even both. First class tutorial too with the video clip |\.
