  • Dark Mackerel Fly

Does anyone have access to the original dressing of the above fly?

I find this fly quite fantastic on the dropper at night.

    Thanks in anticipation, holly.

Heyup Yorkshire, there is a pattern posted HERE by a bit of a ropey old fly dresser.

PS don't be ringing me up in floods of tears when St. Helens absolutely thrash Leeds.

Yes LG, that is what worries me, I think they are playing the reverse psychology game and Leeds are not aware of it.

I have done quite a lot of work in Leeds, unfortunately, it was Mathematics and not Psychology.

Many thanks for your Dark Mackerel pattern.

      Regards, holly.

Can't work out how to insert an https link, but Davie McPhail has a step-by-step video for the Dark Mackerel on YouTube.

            Really easy, thankfully, SS.

Literally just: [youtube ] then the video code, and closing with [ /youtube]

            For example: [youtube ]JFwCCL0Vh6U[ /youtube]

Just take away the gaps I have inserted above. So, for the one you mention:

            TT.

              Many thanks TT.

I have had great success with this pattern, used, as a dropper fly.

              Regards, holly.

Makes sense Holly, especially with the hackled body etc. very much as I use the daioni.

I think removing the tail and then putting a black squirrel wing instead of the mallard would make for an interesting variation and a great late season pattern...

                  TT.
