reckon Phil the worm would try a bunch for them! lol

can't say that it's very discrete fishing Steff, 10/0 barbless bronze hook, 49 strand wire for biting trace (aka tow rope), 150lb mono rubbing leader, and 50lb mainline (and plenty of it) on a 30lb class rod!

          But to be honest - you wouldn't want to go any lighter!!!! They don't like the surface very much!!!!!! :}

You never know when that 200lb+ fish will turn up!

Heard another one on Saturday, which I'll share with you next time we meet up. It took place when he landed 11 salmon in a single session...

              TT.

Nice fish and nice to see them going back - what's the price of a day's charter if you don't mind me asking?

If I remember rightly wasn't it a bull huss, and more than likely someone threw it over the bridge on the way home.

                        Hi sewinbasher,

no problem at all in asking.

a days sharking charter costs £480 for the boat for a 12 hour trip (sometimes a tad longer).

We tend to go with 8 - 10 people on board. As we go on Celtic Wildcat out of neyland, you've got plenty of room and as long as everyone is sensible you can fish 10. Ideal no. in my view is 6 -8. Slightly more cost per person, but a bit more room.

Benefit of taking more people = less time catching mackerel for chum/bait.

if you need any more info - let me know

                        cheers

Thanks for the info Chuck, just one more question, is that tackle inclusive? I've got shark gear but some others that might want to come do not.

not sure to be honest - when we go we've all got our own gear. so sorry but I don't know.

all you need is a 30 - 50lb class rod (you could even go lighter rod wise), and a reel that can hold 300yrd or so of 50lb mono.

terminal tackle can be a bit expensive if buying seperately - or off the skippers, but if everyone on board needs gear you may be able to pick up in bulk - 10/0 bronzed hooks, then 49 strand wire, and 200lb rubbing trace.

I think you can hire a full set up off the skipper - but I'd suggest best to ring him for more info.

May well have been Cap. I believe that it made the front cover of the local papers at the time! :> with people actually believing that it was caught that far up river! classic.
