  • Waiting for 2013 Sea-Trout runs in France

Here in France the 2013 season starts quietly, with only a very few fishes catched. May be this is due to low temperatures we had during winter and spring ?
Do you experience the same thing within your rivers ?

    Weather

you trying to tell us you have had spring over in France. I left my local river at 3.30 am yesterday and the temp was 2 deg i,m thinking of bying another set of thermals to go on top of the ones i,v got. Oh and i,v got a complaint for the moderator TT.. I tied up a few dioni,s over the winter after he was kind enough to give me one to copy, when i met him last year down the nith. My son put , a No 6 on the dropper on friday-sat night about 1.30am on the border esk and on his second cast was into a belter about 9 lbs eventualy when i got it in the net. It turned out to be a spanking sealiced Salmon!!!. He has asked me to see if you actualy!!! know any flies that catch seatrout lol :?

      Hi CMI,

yes, almost exactly the same. Very cold river and air temperatures and very lethargic fish. A few being taken on bait, where the fish don't have to move far to intercept. However, we're getting some warm weather at last, which should really get things moving.

      TT.

Out of interest, which French rivers are good for sea trout?

Following French rivers are very good for sea trout:
              • Touques
              • Arques and tributaries
              • Canche
              • Authie

Every year very big sea trouts are caught in river Seine.

Many thanks for the information CMI.

I saw on-line that the monitoring station on the river Touques at Breuil en Auge has recorded nearly 5500 migratory fish up to mid-September 2013. Sounds like a very impressive run of fish!

Can visiting anglers access sea trout fishing on La Touques, e.g. a week's holiday permit when the season re-opens next year? I'm liking the idea of Normandy cuisine and sea trout fishing at night.

Steff - have you ever run sea trout holidays in France?

                Thanks,

                Silver Stoat
