  • Fly boxes

Spent the last couple of months going through my old fly boxes & re-tied/added to them (cabin fever struck just after Xmas) consequently looking for an up-dated storage method ideally a box for doubles/trebles one for standard single hooks but taking up to size 2 & something for sunk-lures/snakes. What does everyone else use, have got a couple of old Wheatleys that I have just replaced the foam, use the ripple foam for still water but cannot find one that will take the size of my larger sea-trout flies, ideas anyone?

I'm no craftsman but i've made some single tier fly boxes, using various pieces of wood ethafoam, and some small catches.

      Hi Sawyer,

Wheatley do a wider than normal version, so perhaps look out for them:

I use them for stingers, surface lures, waddington styles etc. Having said that, they're not perfect as you still find the hooks from each side catch each other.

For singles I just use a simple C&F box:

For Tubes, plain and simple does the trick. Just standard plastic tray boxes:

Thanks for the replies, think I will go for a copuple of the C&F boxes the boxes I use for ST flies now are all wooden/battered wheatleys so fancied a change (think I have tied far too many flies this Spring!!).
        Mark.
