It might not come to that.
Know anybody whose good with electrics/electronics?
You could have the defunct switch replaced.
Who are the makers of your particular lamp?

There's got to be a way, thats a lot of money to just throw away.... if it is just a switch and nothing really smartarsed can't you forget the switch (bypass it) and then just put a bedside lamp style switch in the power line ?

Rather than throw it away send it to me and I'll 'have a look' at it for you... and if I fix it safely I'll even return it to you.

You can get on with some fly tying now then with no excuses for some misaligned wings, dodgy hackling etc :> :> :>.
Did you try and get the other one fixed at all? Or was it consigned to the filling cabinet under the desk.
