  • Trout Doubles

    As posted else where!!!

Ive used the last of my double hooks which I had hoarded from a sale a few years ago. No bother I jump onto the tinternet and buy some!!!

Bl00dy eck theyve not half jumped in price!! £4 for 10 is the average and Im after about 50 - 70!!!

But there are some cheaper offerings about so Ive decided to hold my ordering back untill Ive made my mind up. So Im posting this up out of curiosity to see what doubles you prefer?

Now I am asking about bronze trout doubles not the longshank Salmon doubles.

John, check with Angler's Workshop (Woodland, Washington)

and see if they ship 'over seas.' http://www.anglersworkshop.com/

Just did a huge purchase of doubles (they carry as small as size 10) and at $13.85 per 50. Never seen them less expensive here in the US.

        Bit of a question.

        (:,

Didn't seen any in bronze either ... but the price can't be beat. Is it that 'important' they be bronze vs black?

        fae

Bit of an edit here for clarification:?: The 'double' I was directing John to were the Mustad 80525BL's. Even over here, buying 'doubles' in 10 packs is the norm ... and EXPENSIVE as all get-out. To find some at a darned reasonable price, and in 'volume' is as "rare as hen's teeth." (An American term?):#

The black (salmon) doubles tend to be a longer shank whilst the wee bronze doubles are the same shank length as a normal hook.

            'Gotcha' John.

As 99% of my fishing is for Steelhead or Pacific Salmon the longer shank hook is what we need. You can tie a 'low water' style fly, or a fuller one on these hooks. Given what 'the greater they' charge for double, of any size, sounds like you're going to be 'bucks up' unless someone wants to make you a 'good deal.' You might want to try contacting the manufacturer and see if they will sell you hooks in bulk.

Only three answers:' Yes, No, let me think about this ... how big an order are we talking about?'

            Fred

Edit: Perhaps we should do a poll and find out how many other folks would want doubles and do a 'group buy?' Just a thought.

Converting 7 Pounds to Dollars (Apples to Apples) is $10 USD and change, the prices are WELL below what we'd pay for the hooks over here (assuming you could even find the damned things!). Still expensive, but if that's 'exactly' what you want, you're going to pay up one way or the other.::

The 'bargain' deals at 3.5 Pounds would be a bit over $5.00 USD ... A HELL OF A GOOD DEAL!!!

Try the partridge HND hooks, XL50. They are spot on! I use these for my sea-trout doubles, and the BMD doubles for the tubes. Last season you could get 4 packs for £10 quite readily, but they seem to have jumped to £3.75 a pack recently...

Anyway, cracking hook. Very strong and 100% recommended.
