I fish a lot in easturies for sea trout and was wondering if anyone has had sucses with poppers before because i cant get them to take it yet?

I have some experience with them on bass UF, but not on sewin, sorry. However, if it's anything like the surface lures at night I would make sure that you're fishing them 'in' the surface film, not 'on'. Out of interest; have you ever tried to fish a fly on a dropper just above the popper? It often works with spinners.

Cheers tt, yes i have but on a spinning rod. On the ythan estuary we fish "terrors" or large baitfish patterns on a 6ft trace with a lead weight above the swivel and sometimes i fish a foam fly on the tail and a terror on the dropper just off the bottom. Its very succesful.Comment
