I was experimenting with tying sea trout flies with a thicker body this evening and have tied up a few Towy all-rounders, some with golden pheasant tips and some with yellow schlappen (I think I prefer the pheasant).
Now that I see them on the stand I can't help thinking they look more like salmon flies. Has anybody had success with this fly when night fishing for sewin on the Towy or Teifi?
The flies in front of the stand were tied by my 6-year old, and he was keen to show them off too.
Materials:
Hook: Ken Sawada silver Spey, size 6
Tail: yellow schlappen or golden pheasant
Body: black seal fur
Rib: silver wire
Hackle: black schlappen, tied false
Wing 1: red arctic fox
Wing 2: Peacock sword
cheeks: jungle cock
head: red floss, UV-cured epoxy resin
