  • Jambo unchained

My first attempt at a Jambo, having just been switched on to the benefits of surface lure fishing for sea trout.

    Neatly trimmed down below:

    Materials:
    Underwing1: blue arctic fox
Underwing2: blue and black squirrel tail
Flash1: Krystal flash herring back (Hareline dubbin inc)
Flash2: silver star flash (FutureFly, from Foxy Tails)
    Body: black deer hair
Treble link: 30lb Amnesia mono, twisted and superglued into whipping

I'm happy that it's going to create sufficient wake, but not sure how aerodynamic it's going to be when casting with a 9'6 #6. Should I take the nose hair trimmers to it?

Interested in seeing other peoples' patterns for non-jambo wake lures.

Did find on my recent outing as long as you can avoid much false casting, and if you don't leave the forward cast too long before the back cast it seems to be fine otherwise the weight in them seems to dip quickly and flick the water... that's my theory anyway ps the bulkier the more it catches the wind so I tend to trim mine down more like a mouse pattern easier to pick off the water imo...

If you get problems casting them then get yourself a bass/pike taper line, they are designed to handle big air resistent flies.
        Hope this helps.
