Just found out that the Fishtec shop in Ammnaford is closing down next week and all fishing equipment has already been sent back to Brecon. Shame, it was a good shop with friendly and knowlegable staff.

fly shack
That is a shame to see fishtec close down because it was a good little shop, however fly shack in llanelli has always been my go to tackle shop. I live by pontardulais and its a 10 minute drive to fishtec and a 15 minute drive to fly shack and I've always decided to shop at fly shack. The shop has every thing you could need as well as a lot of fly tying materials.
The shop is owned and run by peter holborn who's always happy and welcoming even after losing a big salmon the day before. If you haven't been to or heard of fly shack then I strongly recommend you visit, he's loyal to his customers and you can even sit down with a coffee and catch up on the latest reports, he also sells day tickets in the shop.
Fishtec was a great little shop which I pass by frequently but like I said fly shack is the place to be right now. This might all sound like a marketing scheme but when I read the above comments I thought I had to do peters FLY SHACK some justice, just try and visit once and you'll know what I'm jibber jabbing on about. thanks

Real shame as the shop in Ammanford was great, especially as it had a little bit of everything.
Benwillz; agree about FlyShack http://www.flyshack.co.uk/ great little shop and they carry a bit of everything. Have only met Peter once I think but he was more than helpful and was a nice guy.
Beyond that you also have a great little shop in Carmarthen: http://www.westwalestackle.co.uk/ they have a bit of everything too and carry local permits etc. well worth checking out if you're in the area.
You also have anglers corner in Llanelli, but that's a bit more sea/spin/coarse orientated: http://www.anglerscorner.co.uk/
And also a half decent one in Cardigan too (haven't been there for a while though, so not sure how much game gear they are carrying now as they certainly were pretty heavily coarse/sea orientated last time I visited): https://plus.google.com/102051348118...ut?gl=uk&hl=en
TT.
