Has anyone tried or had success on the dry fly for salmon on the Towy ?

I have enough trouble catching them on conventional gear let alone with dry flies!! :>
Never tried it, but I'm sure a skated dry would work, rather than a dead drift.
Look at the sunrays, they fish in the film. Also, John Graham uses the jambo in the daytime for salmon.

Having said that; spoke to a ghillie on the Tweed last week who told me about a grilse of 6lb he had last season (I think) that was feeding on dries and he got it off the top thinking it was a big trout. So, not impossible I guess.

I have seen them skating dry's for salmon in I think it was Norway on youtube it just looks like bloody good fun :>Comment
