    Hi all,

Is there any point to using jungle cock when fly tying, Is it there for the fish or the anglers ??

I believe it is to provide the fish a target..

I'm sure someone else will advise.

I doubt it makes a grate deal of difference to the fish, but I love the stuff and fish a fly with jc a lot more confidently than one without which I think is by far the most important thing, just a shame its such an expensive addiction~:.

It certainly does act as a target on some flies and, indeed, some flies do not look right - almost naked - without this simple addition. Beyond that though it can be very much a confidence factor and if something does not look right then it will not be fished with confidence, which can be the most important overriding factor.

I do, however, think that it can be overused - I too fall foul to this. Sometimes the fish just want a drab fly with little or no flash or fuss. For example, you cannot get simpler or more deadly than a pheasant tail or hare's ear for trout.

          TT.
