Celtic Sea Trout Project
Angler Prize Draw 2011
The Celtic Sea Trout Project (CSTP) is a European Union, Interreg IV-funded, Ireland-Wales collaborative project looking into the status, distribution, genetics and ecology of sea trout around the Irish Sea (http://www.celticseatrout.com/about/programme.htm). Several key aspects of the project require scales samples from rod-caught fish within the Irish Sea region, especially from 25 priority river systems .
The Prizes
As an incentive to anglers to participate in the project, the CSTP project partners are offering several valuable tackle voucher prize s, including:
- A £500 (€582) tackle voucher prize to the angler submitting the most scales from our priority rivers in 2011.
- Three £350 (€407) tackle voucher prizes to each of the three 3 anglers who returned the most scales from priority systems in 2011 within each of other three regions: Ireland (inc NI), Scotland and IoM, Wales, or NW England
- Ten £100 (€116) tackle vouchers to be awarded to 10 anglers to be drawn at random from the remaining scale samples submitted. (this includes samples submitted in 2010 and those from non-priority rivers within the project area)
In order to have a chance to win all you will need to do is submit scale samples from your fish using one of these CSTP scale envelopes. To find out how to get your sample kits go to: (http://www.celticseatrout.com/anglers/scale-samples.htm) or contact the relevant people below.

When will the draw be made?
The winners will be chosen based on the scale samples submitted to us before 31st March 2012. The prize draw will take place on the 1st of April 2012. Winners will be contacted directly and will be invited to attend one of the project meetings to receive their prize. The winners names will also be published on the CSTP web site.
The Small Print -
There are no age restrictions, any angler can submit their scales
Scales must be angler caught sea trout. Other species or fish caught by any other methods will not be eligible.
Evidence of cheating (e.g. submitting scales from the same fish more than once, or submitting scales caught by another anglers under your own name) will result in al of that angler’s samples being deemed invalid.
Sample envelopes must be fully completed and clearly legible and the angler’s name and contact details must be clearly marked on the packet. The project partners will not be held responsible for scales that are damaged/illegible on arrival.
Scale samples submitted after the 31/3/12 deadline will not be eligible for any prizes.
Scales samples already submitted before 31/3/11 (i.e. for the 2010 season) will be included in the prize draw, but only fish caught in 2011 season will count toward the main and runner up prizes.
All scales must come from fish caught in freshwater, upstream of the tidal limit, in rivers that are within the project area, see http://www.celticseatrout.com/about/location.htm. Only samples from priority rivers will count towards the top 4 prizes.
In the event that 2 or more anglers catch the same number of fish the top or runners up prizes will be shared between the qualifying anglers.
There is no limit to the number of scales samples submitted.
No single angler will be able to win more than one prize.
Any complaints should be submitted in writing to The project lead, Celtic Sea Trout Project, School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University, Menai Bridge LL59 5AB.
