  • Wooden fly boxes - made in Wales

I thought I would commend these wooden fly boxes, made by Jeff Jones from Ceredigion. He had a stand at this year's BFFI, which is where I first saw them. There are standard boxes (from £10) and luxury ones (£28). The latter are made from American black walnut, Burmese teak and (my favourite) pommelle sapele, which has a faint burr like effect. The larger boxes (8" x 5") will hold a good amount of sea trout flies. Boxes can be embellished with an optional emblem; traditional wet fly, Welsh dragon, clover leaf, thistle or red rose.

N.B. I'm not on commission! I just like spreading the word on craftsmen-made fishing products.

Haven't come across them before. They look great and certainly have more character to them than the usual mass-produced plastic models. |\
